A guide to Data Privacy Day 2012

Data Privacy Day is January 28, 2012.

Data Privacy Day is an annual international celebration designed to promote awareness about privacy and educate people about best privacy practices.

Although it falls on a Saturday this year, we’ll be celebrating with events throughout January and into February.

On Thursday, January 26, we’re sponsoring a Data Privacy Day event, "The Intersection of Privacy and Security," featuring the Honorable Julie Brill, Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission.

We're thrilled to have Facebook Live stream the event.

Please take some time on Thursday between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. ET to watch our panel discussions. Facebook will be streaming the event here: http://on.fb.me/dctalkslive

You can also participate in other events and webinars going on across the country, Canada, Europe and India.

There are other ways to mark Data Privacy Day, too. Our website is filled with resources geared toward parents, teens, educators, consumers, businesses, non-profits and resources created by governments.

Here are some other ways to celebrate:

  • Think about how you share information online and your online privacy.
