Understanding one form of cyber attack
Submitted by Michael Kaiser on Fri, 07/10/2009 - 2:29pm.
Cyber attacks have been in the news this week as reports of attacks on US and South Korean Government websites and some private companies have been reported.
At NCSA we believe it’s important for everyone to have some understanding of cyber attacks since in fact almost any computer can be used to facilitate such attacks through the use of botnets. An article on Yahoo! News today simplifies for the general public the denial of service attacks. Take some time to understand how these attacks works and some signs that you computer might be involved.
Most of all take the time to learn the things you can do to secure your computer. At NCSA we recommend keep your web browser and operating system up to date and run a full suite of security software. Read all of NCSA’s top tips.
