What does that mean?
Phishing: A scam where someone tries to trick you into giving away personal information, often through a fake email or website.
Vishing: A type of phishing that happens over the phone, where a scammer pretends to be someone you trust. The term comes from “voice phishing.”
Smishing: A phishing scam that uses text messages to try to fool you into clicking a link or sharing personal info. The term comes “SMS text phishing.”
Dark Web: A hidden part of the internet where stolen data, like passwords or credit card numbers, can be bought and sold.
Malware: Harmful software that sneaks onto your device and can steal information, damage files, or spy on your activity.
Software Update: A small fix or patch that helps your apps and devices stay secure and run smoothly.
Software Upgrade: A bigger change that often costs money for a new version of a program you use. You typically don’t have to buy an upgrade to improve the security of a piece of software – updates are usually free and you oftentimes find them in the Settings menu of a software program.
